What a Tuft of Fitties at this morning’s ride. The three route scenario permitting all abilities to attend worked well. Particularly pleasing to see more newer converts out.

With the open water season upon us, we have been asked by Horsham District Council that everyone complies with their rules for swimming at Southwater Country Park in Cripplegate Lake. As in previous years there is a total embargo on any swimming until after 5pm, and all Tuff Fitty's must wear a swim cap - registered clubs have to wear a nominated colour of which Tuff Fitty's is blue. Please read the full details here

Steyning Tri was the first race in our club championship and what a start. With 30 finishers in the Sprint race, almost a quarter of the field, there were some great results from our established triathletes and three in their first ever triathlon. With four TF’s in the top 10 Stew Smith led us home taking first vet title finishing third male overall. In the longer race 4 Tuff Fitty’s completed the course, with Kev Pearson leading the TF contingent 8th overall and 2nd vet.

Further action from TF with three competitors completing the Three Forts Half Marathon. Add in the group of cyclists who travelled to Steyning to cheer and it was a superb start to see so many members out in the sun.

This morning saw a club race – our Easter Equathlon, a choice of either a 400m/5k swim run or 800m 10k. Some great split times as the squad close in on the main Triathlon season. Keith Mulholland, Andy Strong and Fraser Dean were 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the 400/5k race, with Dominic Chapman, Kev Pearson & Trev Harvey top three at 800/10. Tiff Orton the first lady home. With British Summertime here, Tuff Fitty have moved its summer Wednesday run back to it’s traditional Arundel Park route. Downland turf, hills, great scenery & company.  A good turnout for our first week back in Arundel as pictured below. A choice of groups and mileage – makes this suitable for all.

Could Spring finally be here? Another packed Tuff Fitty weekend with Saturday morning run, evening swim and two separate cycle rides on Sunday. One to encourage members out, meanwhile 14 had completed the Burgess Hill Spring Cyclosportive, with 11 doing the 72 mile route, two the 55 mile route and one the 35 mile route; all of which proved to be tough courses.

    Burgess Hill Spring Cyclosportive

Thank you to all the club members who helped at this morning’s Frosty Aquathlon. Better weather conditions this year for marshalling and it appears, better for racing, with two new course records.  Our constitution states Tuff Fitty will play its part in developing multisport and the number of first time entrants shows we are achieving this aim.

And of course this still left squad members able to race with Kev, fourth home overall and 1st Vet. 2nd place for our Major Eyes Water team of Kev, Rizey, Chris L & Sue. Leanne completed our Frosty entrants.

Christian F was third in the Frostbite with good results from Tiff, Jim, & Tracey. Dave A was pleased with his comeback race after injury and congratulations to Matt & Peter on completing their first ever multisport race.
