Gosport Road Runners invite you to take part in the 32nd Gosport Half Marathon.
The race takes place on Sunday 19th November 2017 commencing at 10am. The venue is Bay House School, 18 Gomer Lane, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire PO12 2QP. There is chip timing.
The combined running number and chip will be collected on race day.
Race entries tend to be evenly split between Club and non-Club Runners, so there is a good mix of abilities that ensures the race feels busy but rarely crowded.
The race is a venue for the Hampshire Road Race League and unfortunately is not suitable for wheelchair athletes.
The course introduced in 2014 will be used again although there may be slight adjustments made.
The route starts and finishes at Browndown Rd, then has two laps which go all the way along the Seafront at Lee-on-the-Solent.
The outward leg is mainly run on cycle-paths and pavement, the return leg goes along the Esplanade. The course is flat save for two short ramps along the Esplanade.

Tuff Fitty’s weekly track session.
The format is a warm up, followed by drills and then into a main set – all welcome
The cost is £2 per person but the session is usually run by two coaches
It is suggested that you wear layered clothing for the warm up/warm down and useful to bring a drinks bottle for trackside
A run early on Saturday morning can set you up for the weekend. Meet in Mill Road Arundel by the lower Castle gates. As an early start no need to arrive very early, but the runners cater off at 7:30am.
A variety of routes up into Arundel Park, or across to Rewell Woods or a run out to Warningcamp and Angmering Park. As a minimum the route is usually up to 10 miles but for those undertaking spring marathons the mileage does tend to rise through the Autumn heading up towards the South Downs. The route is ideal for some undulations and usually is off road unless the weather conspires against us.
All abilities welcome. Upon return to Arundel a number will stay for a coffee (and something to eat if a sufficiently high mileage has been undertaken) so you may wish to bring a dry top and some money. This offer is not obligatory, if you fancy a run, yet would prefer to return straight home
A great way to start the weekend, have you tried it yet?

Leaving from Fontwell Racecourse, you’ll head out and cross over the A27, past Eartham and over Nore Hill before entering the South Downs loop, which heads around the area in a clockwise motion – passing through trails and zig-zagging in and out of fast runs in the dense woodland area, which varies in terrain consistently.
Shortly after the Standard and Epic routes split, the longer route heads into the South Downs park for some fast single track trails, before skirting around the base of Court Hill to come back out and re-join the main clockwise loop that continues on the hills through East Dean, and Charlton, then heading into the wooded section once more for more narrow trails.
The section of the ride from Heyshott Down to Littleton Down is quick and free-flowing, as it sticks to wider main trails on rolling terrain. You’ll be able to appreciate the woodland at speed before one last technical part of the route, which is steep to climb but fast in return going downhill, from the point of the second feed stop around Barlavington Down and across Farm Hill and beyond.
Soon enough, you’ll be on the final straight once heading out of the National Park circular loop. The lateness in the calendar of this popular mountain bike event may conspire with the weather to ensure you cross the finish line caked in mud, but you’ll be able to wash away the evidence of a great ride in idyllic surroundings when you get back to the ride HQ.
