Set in the Heart of the Picturesque Cotswolds, the Swim is a one lap 1.9km in the well known lake 32 based in the centre of the Ashton Keynes water park.
The bike section leaves the water park and heads out the area on a flat and fast course into some of the Cotswolds most beautiful and quiet villages. The route is two laps, and the most outbound point is based at the top of the only real hill on the course – Neils hill in Hannington Wick.
With the event being held in the water park, then the athletes will be treated to a mixture of tarmac and hard pack pathing for the 13mile run that takes in lake side paths as well as local village routes before finishing back close to the lakeside transition in the finishers area.
Both the bike and the run are virtually pancake flat in profile, so this race will suit either athletes new to the distance or more experienced racers looking to hammer a new Middle distance PB..

The 180 km bike course is the jewel of IRONMAN France as it follows much of the original Nice Triathlon route and passes through villages and mountains. Athletes can expect impressive spectator support along the route.
The debut Outlaw Half Holkham event in 2016 received 99.5% positive feedback and was an instant hit at the beautiful Holkham Estate. 2017 was bigger and better! The event takes place over a stunning course covering a 1.2 mile lake swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run, which can be completed as an individual or relay team of three competitors.
The Holkham Estate and its magnificent eighteenth century hall provide a stunning backdrop to the swim, both transitions and the run. The bike course is a single loop taking in the coastal road, quiet country roads and some faster roads. The run does feature some climbs across three loops around the Estate.
There is on-site camping organised specifically for competitors and their family and friends, camping is only permitted in Holkham twice a year, so this is a fantastic opportunity. There are various types of accommodation in the area, but this is a popular holiday destination, so please book early!
This will be a very high quality racing experience, and an escape from everyday life. Holkham is one of Britain’s tourist gems, and we’re delighted to be able to return for a third year.
