Saturday Morning Run @ Lower Castle Gates, Mill Road. Arundel
Jul 28 @ 7:30 am – 9:30 am
Saturday Morning Run @ Lower Castle Gates, Mill Road. Arundel | England | United Kingdom

A run early on Saturday morning can set you up for the weekend.  Meet in Mill Road Arundel by the lower Castle gates. As an early start no need to arrive very early, but the runners cater off at 7:30am.

A variety of routes up into Arundel Park, or across to Rewell Woods or a run out to Warningcamp and Angmering Park.  As a minimum the route is usually up to 10 miles but for those undertaking spring marathons the mileage does tend to rise through the Autumn heading up towards the South Downs. The route is ideal for some undulations and usually is off road unless the weather conspires against us.

All abilities welcome.   Upon return to Arundel a number will stay for a coffee (and something to eat if a sufficiently high mileage has been undertaken) so you may wish to bring a dry top and some money.  This offer is not obligatory if you fancy a run, yet would prefer to return straight home

A great way to start the weekend, have you tried it yet?

Midnight Marathon @ Queen Elizabeth Country Park
Jul 28 @ 9:00 pm – Jul 29 @ 4:00 am

Enjoy the excitement of night running in the South Downs in the Summer.

Starting with a signed route for a couple of miles within the country park, then on the public way-marked South Downs Way, with multiple water/feed stations along the way, this is a great way to run at night with others on a course that is simple to follow.

Even though this is a summer event, it can still get cold at night, so please wear or carry appropriate clothing.  In addition, all participants will be required to use a head-torch with spare batteries, and recommended to take a backup light source and carry a mobile phone.

There is no time cutoff for this event.  You may take as long as you like to finish it, but as a rough guide, we would expect the fastest finishers to be back just after Midnight and everyone to be finished by 4AM, and for those that expect to take over 8 hours, there may be an early start at 8PM.

After the finish, relax undercover with chilli and bread rolls (including fully vegan option) before heading home.

We expect around 200 entrants, so plenty of people around without it spoiling the night running experience.

Outlaw Triathlon (Full Distance ) @ National Watersport Centre -
Jul 29 @ 6:00 am – 7:00 pm
Outlaw Triathlon (Full Distance ) @ National Watersport Centre - | England | United Kingdom

The ninth Outlaw Triathlon is all set for summer 2018. One of Nottingham’s key sporting events, the Outlaw has become (almost) even more legendary than Robin Hood, the Major Oak and Brian Clough!

Those who have conquered the Outlaw Triathlon are remembered in local folklore for having outwitted the Sheriff to complete a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run. As long as you can cover the distance in 17 hours or less, you will become an Outlaw. Six men have completed it every year since the Outlaw was launched in 2010; can they come back and finish it for a ninth time this year? And will you be joining them as a competitor or spectator?

The event begins with a mass swim start in the Regatta Lake at Nottingham’s National Water Sports Centre. It’s an out and back swim course which is easy to navigate. With transition right next to the swim exit you’ll have every opportunity to set a super-quick time and even faster escape onto your bike.

The roads around Nottinghamshire are ideal for fast riding (time trial bike friendly) and there is only the odd short climb to challenge you, but don’t underestimate the wind!

On returning to the National Water Sports Centre our merry men will rack your bike and see you out on to the flat run course around the lake and on to the River Trent path. You’ll pass Trent Bridge, the City Ground, Wilford Suspension Bridge and the Victoria Embankment. The multi-lap course, which has been measured by UK Athletics, offers a feed station every mile or so, and is lined with supporters willing you all the way to the finish line.

On arrival at the finish you will receive a hero’s welcome and be crowned a modern day Outlaw. Then you can enjoy the festival atmosphere with thousands of spectators cheering the athletes home until the sun finally sets on a spectacular day of racing.

Outlaw has been recognised as 220 Triathlon Magazine’s Event of the Year in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 & 2017 and British Triathlon’s Event of the Year in 2011.

Prudential Ride London
Jul 29 @ 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
Prudential Ride London @ London | England | United Kingdom

Entry by ballot only ( which is now closed) successful applicants find out if they were successful in Feb

Taking a cue from the London Marathon, amateur cyclists also participate in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 – a 100-mile challenge on the same closed roads as the professionals, with the added incentive of raising money for good causes. For the first time in 2016, the event also featured the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 – a 46-mile sportive created specifically for newer and also younger cyclists.

To capture it all, the best action is broadcast live on TV in the UK and internationally, to be seen by an audience of millions.

Prudential RideLondon also generates sustainable, long-term economic benefit to London and the UK alongside the money raised for good causes; as participants and spectators alike come to London both from the UK and overseas to spend their time and money in the capital.

After the inaugural event in 2013, the vision for Prudential RideLondon – to be one of the world’s leading cycling events and a lasting legacy of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games – has become reality.

Please wear a brightly coloured swim cap – it has been suggested to arrive 10 minutes before high tide in order that everyone can get suited up.
