Weekend Round Up 11th/12th March

TONY DAY

We recently reported on how our Team of Tuff Fitty coaches have been building their knowledge, and it is pleasing to report that Tony (Bear) Day has become qualified for another speciality. His CV already looks impressive holding Level 3 Personal trainer qualifications and Gym Instructor. He also has  qualifications in Kettle Bell, Core, Circuit Training, & Advanced Resistance training.  This would probably be enough for most people but Bear has recently passed his assessment to be a fully qualified instructor for ‘Insanity’.  Those Tuffs that attend our Sunday evening circuit training classes can readily testify for what a good workout that is.  Oh if that is not all Bear is already into a degree in fitness, working towards the GP referral scheme and indoor Cycling qualifications.  All this and his first child expected in about 8 weeks; a busy man.

WEST WORTHING 5km/10km

A new event with monies raised to help special schools in Sussex. The route was a flat out and back run from Sea Lane Cafe, east past the Pier and Splashpoint to where the Prom finishes close to Ham Road, and then all the way back again.  The heavy rain promised didn’t materialise but it was drizzling and damp throughout making the loop around the greensward at the start and finish heavy going.  There was a 5km race where Steve Feest romped home in 8th position in 21:33.   In the longer 10km, Stuart Harvey was the first Tuff home gaining a new PB in 44:57.  Neil Rabone was next after racing at the Frosty last weekend in 45:51. Paul Martin (46:28) then Tony Pearce, 51:51.    Well done to all five for gaining another medal for their collection and the Tuff cheerleaders, including Capt Joe shouting encouragement whilst supporting wife Tania

PARK RUN

A good Tuff Turnout at Worthing Park Run. 1st Tuff home was James Oram in 21:42.  Next Amanda de Ridder (24:20) & Tim Kenny (25:48). Following recent strong form during our track training Cliff Thomas completed his first Park Run in 25:51.  Cathy Connor had thought she was building up her Park Run tally of 33 runs under the radar but hadn’t reckoned on this weekend roundup.  However Saturday saw her gain a new PB in 26:54 – well done Cathy.
