Coronavirus Tuff Fitty update

The Coronavirus is having a massive impact on our country and people’s lives, and clearly Tuff Fitty Triathlon Club need to play its part in ensuring everyone stays healthy, minimises risks and help each other’s well-being.

Our clubs stance is clearly set out in the statement below. However that we are a close community means we can use our strength together to reach out and support through these difficult times.

In adopting Mind’s mental Health charter under our #not2tuff2talk initiative we want to support those who encounter difficulties whether from stresses of isolation or other more practical issues. Tuff Fitty has its own social media platforms, so it is hoped we can utilise these to maintain contact and support everyone. Whether this is to encourage and motivate each other to train, maybe setting a small daily challenge, or simply lift everyone’s spirits.

Tuff Fitty’s coaches have a forum group and this has been absolutely buzzing with thoughts and ideas as to how our club can continue without needing large scale contact. So if you are not yet on our facebook groups, then please do join up where possible as it looks as though there will be some fantastic stuff coming down the track.

Our website will shortly have our final Weekend Round Up published but thereafter with races being cancelled, this medium will have to adopt a different format moving forward. Please feel able to share anecdotes or pictures of how you are managing to squeeze training in, with our fantastic crazy bunch of Tuffs there must be a wealth of material that will be heading our way.

In the meantime, stay healthy, and importantly keep in touch.

Dear Tuffs,

The coaching team and committee have given serious consideration to the ongoing situation with the Corona Virus and how it impacts club training sessions. All the recent modelling suggests that the situation will deteriorate going forward.

With this in mind and in light of last night’s (16 March) government advice re social distancing, unnecessary contacts/gatherings we have reluctantly decided to suspend all club training sessions until further notice.

No doubt this will disrupt training plans but your health and safety is our priority and we are not willing to put this at risk. In addition it is important that Tuff Fitty acts responsibly and plays it’s part in protecting both its members and the wider community.
