Weekend Round Up 12th 13th March

A quieter week with several Tuffs in action next weekend, but the sun is now starting to make an appearance so we can look forward to warmer days ahead; We still have the following :-

CHICHESTER CORPORATE CHALLENGE

Chichester Corporate Challenge is a series of three individual runs on Wednesday evenings. The first occurred on the 2nd March, the second this week with the final instalment on the 30th March. Starting in North Street the route is a square around the centre of Chichester, onto East Street before up to Priory Road and back to North Street. The seniors have to do four laps starting in two waves to accrue 4,500m. James Mapley was first Tuff home on both occasions with times of 16:30 & 16:20 to ensure his corporate team are close to the top (team scores awaited) Both Matthieu Cauchy-Duval and Debra Cauchy-Duval were in action for Team Felpham Community college. All three returned consistent times, particularly notable with the poor weather and Spanish sand, that evening as the runners at our track session would testify.

CLUB OF THE YEAR RESULT

The chair was invited to another livestream event on Friday 11th March. Having won Triathlon England’s South East Club of the year for 2022, Tuff Fitty were the region’s standard bearer at the national awards. Hillingdon Tri Club won and whilst many of the attributes listed for their club could also relate to Tuff Fitty, they have grown impressively by over 80 members in the last year. It has been a huge honour to have represented our region nationally and to reach the final 10 is testament to all the work that our coaches, committee and you, our members put into our club – Thank You.

TUFF FITTY’S BRING AND BUY SALE

Saturday 9th April, after our swim between 6pm & 7pm we are holding a sale of Triathlon related gear & equipment. The principal aim is to raise money for charity but there will be three types of stall for members to peruse.

Firstly with Joe Pascoe ever in our thoughts, there will be a sale of a lot of Joe’s Tri kit that Tania is very kindly donating with the proceeds going to the three cancer charities that supported Joe so brilliantly over the course of his illness. There are other items that members have/are donating from books to a turbo trainer, and provisionally we hope to have a sale of swim gear, such as new goggles. If anyone has anything suitable that they would like to donate and bring along with all proceeds going to the charities, this would be very much appreciated.

There is a second category where our brilliant kit supremo, Shelley Babbage, will be on hand. Any stock of club kit/leisurewear will be available to buy, or try, or perhaps you wish to discuss what is a available so an order can be added to our next club order,

There is third category in which all Tuffs are welcome to bring multisport paraphernalia to sell. This category could well include more expensive items that clearly members would like payment for. If sellers feel able, your club would welcome a small ‘commission fee’ for facilitating a sale during the evening which can go into our charity pot. If anyone wishes to do a ‘Swapsie’ that is fine, and it is suggested that payment is made by BACS to each seller. Any questions please ask, but we are restricting this to good quality multisport items, bringing along an old mattress will not be accepted!

It would be great to see lots of members. If you are unable to attend the prior 5pm swim, please feel able to come for the Tuff sale. Another incentive? Our illustrious captains Nicole Patterson-Lett and Adrian Oliver will be heading over the road to The Beach for the Captains , post swim/sale drinks. We hope to see you on the 9th for a fun evening to both help charity and perhaps catch a bargain.

PARKRUN ROUND UP

Worthing parkrun saw Steve Fryer as first Tuff home in a swift 20:31. Rich Budd was our next member home in 22:12 to take his total number of parkruns to 165. Les Pearce is another with an impressive PR record as this week was Les’s 149th in 23:23. Ed Lay was next home on his 80th PR in 24:29. Phil Turner followed notching up his 73rd, and just behind was Mark Sole. Elaine Rousseau completed her 118th to round off the seven Tuffs running.

At Littlehampton parkrun, Kev Pearson was first Tuff home and doing his pacing duty had a great result getting a runner round for their PB. Alistair Evans secured his 75th parkrun and then Jenny Oliver reached her 25th PR. Thanks go to Adrian Oliver and Linda Wright for being on the organising team this week
