Beach Bum Run @ Bluebird Cafe
Aug 3 @ 7:30 am – 9:00 am
Beach Bum Run @ Bluebird Cafe
Our Saturday run training continues throughout the year from Arundel to get ‘undulations’.
This coming Saturday 3rd August we have a change of venue to The Bluebird Cafe in Ferring (BN12 5QU). Those who haven’t run from there it is down a gravel track towards the beach at the corner of West Drive and South Drive.
Meet to canter off at 7:30am.
It is important to state that this run is open to ALL Tuffs regardless of whether you are Saturday runner or not. It would be equally beneficial to the Outlaw crew who would just like to get their legs turning after their Nottingham adventure, and to those wishing to get out of bed for a run.
~ Low tide is at 7:25am
~weather forecast 17 degrees at 8am with the sun coming out and a light breeze
So ideal conditions for a Beach Bum Run. The route will be out to Worthing Pier and back – circa 10k along the beach.
It is important to stress that there is just one suggestion if you are coming – wear your oldest pair of trainers – not your best race day ones as they are likely to get wet. It is customary to bow to “Pier Pressure” wade around the end of Worthing Pier depending on the height of the tide (usually knee deep) and last year a club member (who shall be nameless) decided to lead a route due south! halfway along. However worth stating this is a run and it never got close to be being a swim.
Most stay for coffee afterwards ( not obligatory) but if you do you may wish to pack a dry top
Hope to see you there

Saturday Morning Run @ Lower Castle Gates, Mill Road. Arundel
Aug 10 @ 7:30 am – 9:30 am
Saturday Morning Run @ Lower Castle Gates, Mill Road. Arundel | England | United Kingdom

A run early on Saturday morning can set you up for the weekend.  Meet in Mill Road Arundel by the lower Castle gates. As an early start no need to arrive very early, but the runners cater off at 7:30am.

A variety of routes up into Arundel Park, or across to Rewell Woods or a run out to Warningcamp and Angmering Park.  As a minimum the route is usually up to 10 miles but for those undertaking spring marathons the mileage does tend to rise through the Autumn heading up towards the South Downs. The route is ideal for some undulations and usually is off road unless the weather conspires against us.

All abilities welcome.   Upon return to Arundel a number will stay for a coffee (and something to eat if a sufficiently high mileage has been undertaken) so you may wish to bring a dry top and some money.  This offer is not obligatory if you fancy a run, yet would prefer to return straight home

A great way to start the weekend, have you tried it yet?

Downland Challenge @ Clayton
Aug 10 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Downland Challenge @ Clayton | England | United Kingdom

The Downland Challenge was an old school 30 mile Ultra put on by Haywards Heath Harriers until 2014. It was many locals first Ultra and was hard,  only had 3 aid stations with only Jelly babies and water, we will be bringing this back to the racing calendar on the same day as our 13 the the hard way Half Marathon.

The Downland  originally started in Clayton Playing fields but this is no longer viable so it will start a mile down the road at Underhill lane where the half starts,

You will have to take on the lung busting climb up the Tank tracks to the South Downs way which you  will follow to Southease where you will turn around and retrace your steps.

We aim to keep it as it was intended with only 3 aid stations  but we will pile them high as we usually do
